2024-25 Associated Students, Inc. leaders installed, pledge to enhance Fresno State experience

Associated Students, Inc. (ASI) installed its new student government officers during this year’s installation ceremony which took place on Monday, June 3.
ASI is Fresno State’s officially recognized student body government organization, providing students with:
- An official voice through which their opinions are expressed through shared governance of the university.
- Assistance in the protection of their rights and interests.
- Services and programs that meet their needs.
The new officers, elected by their peers, will lead ASI in its mission to enhance the student experience at Fresno State. Their installation marks the continuation of a tradition of student leadership that dates back to the early days of the university.
“ASI plays a vital role in the Fresno State community, providing a platform for students to make their voices heard,” said Dr. Kent Willis, Vice President for Student Affairs and Enrollment Management. “I am excited to see the impact this new team of student leaders will make. Their dedication to serving their fellow students is truly inspiring.”

Faith Van Hoven was sworn in as the ASI President. She is a senior majoring in philosophy with an emphasis in law. She previously served as the ASI senator for the College of Arts and Humanities, and has been a member of the university’s Filipino Club, Mock Trial, Speech and Debate team and the Arts and Humanities honors program.
“First and foremost, it’s an honor [to have been elected president],” Van Hoven said. “It also comes with a lot of responsibility. I’m no longer just a student; I’m trying my best to represent what our students want and the best path for our average Fresno State student. I’m representing while also advocating.”
“I’m looking forward to learning from everyone—faculty, administrators and my fellow students.”
Eighteen other student leaders were sworn-in alongside Van Hoven, including her running mate Marco Florez, vice president for external affairs.
Florez is a senior majoring in political science. He is also a cadet in Fresno State’s Reserve Officer Training Corps program, where he and Van Hoven met.
“I am excited about the opportunity to continue serving my fellow classmates while growing as a leader and refining my skills to make a positive impact,” Florez said. “I look forward to working with university officials, student organizations, and the entire Fresno State community to address the needs and concerns of students.”
Van Hoven and Florez have dedicated their term in ASI to focusing on safety, access and involvement for students across campus.
Student leadership plays a crucial role in fostering a campus environment that is conducive to the free exchange of ideas, creativity, and innovation. By collaborating with university administration, student leaders can help shape policies and programs that meet the needs of a thriving student body. This partnership between students and administrators is essential for creating a thriving academic community where all students can succeed.
The new officers of ASI are committed to continuing this legacy of service and leadership. They look forward to working with university officials, student organizations, and the entire Fresno State community to address the needs and concerns of students.
