Dr. Amy Allen named associate dean of student involvement

Dr. Amy Allen was appointed associate dean of student involvement at Fresno State, effective July 15, 2024.
She has worked on campus since 1998, most recently serving as the interim associate dean of student involvement for just over two years. In this position, Allen managed several critical responsibilities, including developing student engagement initiatives, overseeing student union operations and implementing programs that foster an inclusive and supportive campus environment.
Raised in the Virgin Islands, Allen moved to Fresno to attend Fresno State as a first-time freshman.
She is now a three-time Fresno State alumna, earning her doctoral degree in educational leadership this past spring. She also holds a master’s in education and a bachelor’s in communications.

“As a proud alumna, I appreciate bringing new students and campus partners into our traditions at Fresno State,” Allen said. “I love being part of new and innovative programs and services for our students, [and] supporting our team in all of the new ideas they bring forward is very rewarding.”
“I’m also the proud mom of a Fresno State graduate, and love the perspective that gave me while my daughter was a student here.”
Allen began her professional journey at Fresno State as a student assistant in the University Student Union (USU) Reservation Center, later serving as the operations services coordinator in the USU, the assistant director at the Student Recreation Center and the associate director of student involvement before taking on the role of interim associate dean.
Allen said, “[My] major accomplishment as interim associate dean was oversight of the move to and opening of the Lynda and Stewart Resnick Student Union.”
The Lynda and Stewart Resnick Student Union is an 84,000-square-foot building to support co-curricular life at Fresno State. Construction began in 2019, and the building officially opened in Fall 2022.
“Dr. Allen has demonstrated exceptional commitment to Fresno State and our students’ success,” Terree Stevenson, associate vice president for student affairs and dean of students, said. “I am confident that we will continue to enhance the Fresno State student experience and support our students’ success in and out of the classroom.”
