Vice President of Student Affairs joins Hispanic Scholarship Fund Advisory Council

On September 9, Fresno State’s vice president of Student Affairs and Enrollment Management, Dr. Kent Willis, joined the Advisory Council for the Hispanic Scholarship Fund (HSF).
Founded in 1975, HSF is a national nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering students and parents with the knowledge and resources to successfully complete a higher education, while providing support services and scholarships to exceptional students, scholars and alumni.
Since its inception, HSF has awarded over $730 million in scholarships.
As a member of the HSF Advisory Council, Willis will collaborate with the organization’s senior staff and regional partners in advancing HSF’s goals, particularly outreach and fundraising efforts.
Willis will also assist HSF in expanding its programs and services for Latino students and parents, as well as serve as an ambassador for the organization at major events and throughout the community, interacting with students, alumni and their families.

“This is an integral partnership with the potential to positively impact the lives of thousands of students both in Fresno and across the nation,” Willis said. “I am grateful for the opportunity to serve as a council member for HSF and look forward to all that we will accomplish.”
Fresno State far surpasses the threshold required to designate the university as a Hispanic Serving Institution (25% of full-time enrolled undergraduate students), with over 58% of the student population in the 2023-24 academic year identifying as Hispanic.
“I strongly encourage our students to tap into the incredible resources and support offered by HSF,” Willis said. “By partnering with HSF, we’re bolstering the tireless efforts of Fresno State’s student affairs professionals to cultivate our students’ potential and set them on a trajectory for success.”
As HSF Scholars, students will have exclusive access to HSF’s career services, mentorship, leadership development and more. HSF Scholars can also apply for HSF scholarships.
