Fresno State’s Career Development Center hosted its first ever Career Fair Prep Carnival on September 25. Open to all students, the carnival offered a chance to connect with staff members to prepare for the two Career and Internship Fairs taking place on campus on October 2 – 3 in the Resnick Student Union.

Hosted at the Memorial Garden, the Career Fair Prep Carnival held various booths where students could receive feedback on their resumes, professional headshots, information about their majors and potential career pathways, and make a vision board with photos capturing elements of their dream careers. The carnival also provided free professional clothing for students, from the Clothing Closet

Damian Lay, employer connection specialist, said, “The carnival gives students a chance to learn to talk about what they want to do, and then they can better talk to recruiters during the career fair.”

Samantha Mendoza, a fourth-year kinesiology student, said, “I liked how they had information about careers and made it carnival-themed. It was fun. We got extra information about the career fair, and it’s helpful especially because we’re in a [student] club and can share that information with other students in our club.”

A total of 460 students attended the Career Fair Prep Carnival.
