Supplemental Instruction hosts Spring Showcase

Supplemental Instruction (SI) recently hosted its showcase in the Fresno State Library. Open to all students across campus, the showcase gave students an opportunity to connect with SI Leaders and learn about SI programming and courses supported through the department.

SI sessions are facilitated by SI Leaders, who are Fresno State students that have previously enrolled in and passed the course(s) for which they are now hosting SI sessions for. They attend lectures throughout the semester, to know what exactly the professor(s) are teaching and expecting of students.

SI sessions consist of icebreakers to get students comfortable talking to and teaching each other, learning activities and study skill development.

Marissa Winfrey, a graduating student who has served as an SI Leader for two semesters, said her favorite part of SI is the community. “It’s a really good way to feel connected to the campus.”

Offered through the Learning Center, SI has served nearly 1,000 students this year.
