An update from the Professional Development Committee

The Professional Development Committee once again wants to thank the 125 staff members within the Division of Student Affairs and Enrollment Management for participating in our annual conference. Here are a few highlights and thoughts as we prepare for the 2026 conference: 

  • We received overwhelming feedback about the presentation by Dr. Ed Venit on The Future of Student Success. One attendee shared: The session by Dr. Ed Venit was excellent. We need more conversations that are rooted in research and data to ensure our services (and our direction as a division) are both grounded in effective practices.
  • Our staff enjoyed the opportunity to experience some of the hidden gems of our campus including the Planetarium, Creamery, Winery and Jordan Agricultural Research Center. 
  • The opportunity to connect and network with our colleagues across the division is invaluable to the work that we do. One attendee shared: I think this is the first time in a while where I learned, had fun, and connected with colleagues. The campus environment hasn’t been the same since COVID and although we (as a campus and division) have a lot of challenges ahead, this was nice. Thank you!
  • In an effort to ensure that as many of our division staff members can attend our annual conference, we will be hosting it closer to the start of the Spring semester. So save the date for Thursday, January 15, 2026.
